We are excited to share a beautiful recipe that is Kim’s go to, as well as some questions that invite us deeper into her journey through the ages. Everything from how the land beneath your feet shape you as a person to some helpful tools in navigating your own health journey!

Where did you grow up and how has that influenced you?

I was born in Australia in a very rural town, and then moved to the US when I was ten. I spent the rest of my years growing up in Oakland California. This duality of worlds helped me to adapt to change, and although it was hard, made me a stronger person. Australia planted seeds of being in the natural world, and, living in accordance with nature, where as Oakland instilled in me deep roots of creativity and diversity.

What has your journey with health and wellbeing taught you about yourself?

When I had my own family, and also dealing with some health issues, I fully engaged in healing with food, and plant medicine. I have always felt the power and magic of plants, and have used them over the years to heal my own ailments, as well as keeping my family vibrant. This has brought about a true sense of empowerment, and gratitude.  In my youth I really didn't  have a lot of consciousness around food, and had later realized that I had created some gut issues for myself, and food addictions. It has been a long road, but through acceptance, forgiveness, will, and belief, I have been able to heal with the medicine the plants offer us. My top medicinal plants have been: Tumeric, ginger, dark leafy greens, thyme, oregano, chamomile and triphala.

Are there certain tools that have been your allies through this journey that you would like to talk about?

I have had the great fortune of being surrounded by beautiful souls that have helped to teach me of these things that I am so passionate about! From farming, to educating our children, plant medicine, and painting. From my inspiration and gratitude of  plants, I have created , and still creating a line of greeting cards, that are of native plants and herbs of California, which I am honored to have in the Heritage store.
